ðŸ’ŧ what i'm doing

I'm an aspiring UX designer with an interest in front-end development. I am working on the fundamental skills of HCI while supplementing my learning through personal projects.

  • At NJIT, my notable courses include: Introduction to Website Development, Building Web Applications, Principles of Psychology, Designing the User Experience, Statistical Methods, Database Design Management and Applications, Human Factors, and Discovering User Needs for UX
  • I'm an E-board member of NJIT's Filipinos in Newark Engaging in Sociocultural Traditions, aka FINEST. As the Secretary I am charged with helping to make executive decisions for the club, completing organizational and administrative duties, as well as making sure the General Body stays up to date via our mailing list.
  • I'm the Human-Computer Interaction Senator for NJIT's Student Senate. As a senator, I am expected to serve as a representative for those in my major by meeting with the department chairperson, as well as fulfill any Student Senate responsibilities that will affect the NJIT Student Body.

✅ what i've done

  • Completed my first five semesters of college with a 4.0 GPA, earning my place on the Fall 2020, Spring 2021, Fall 2021, Spring 2022, and Fall 2022 Dean's List.
  • Assisted NJIT's Social Interaction Lab, as a Research Assistant, where my team conducted research to examine the parasocial relationships between fans and celebrities as well as the online communication practices of fans within fandoms. I assisted in developing a survey in line with the uses and gratifications theory. I helped to recruit over 200+ survey participants. I analyzed results and identified patterns within the data using SPSS. I wrote portions of the final paper to be submitted to academic conferences.
  • Supported the instruction of young women and non-binary individuals as an Instructor Assistant for Kode with Klossy's 2021 Data Science Summer Camps. Ensured scholar understanding of and proficiency in data science skills (SQL, Python, and BI tools) by responding to scholar feedback, facilitating remediation lessons, and supporting scholars throughout their data science journey.
  • Completed a fellowship at the wit project where I:
    • was selected to participate in a software engineering fellowship program empowering female college students to break into tech through socially impactful software development experiences
    • participated in an 8-week software development boot camp with hands-on technical mentorship- focused on Python, HTML/CSS, PostgreSQL, and API development using Postman
    • partnered with Urban Institute to redesign their Intranet
      • conducted user interviews and created wireframes from research feedback
      • designed an interactive intranet prototype using Figma
  • Completed the Kode with Klossy Data Science curriculum where I developed skills such as SQL, visualizing data, and designing schemas.
  • Volunteered at the Liberty Science Center, where I mentored incoming volunteers and guided visitors through exhibits while explaining scientific concepts.

ðŸĪ·â€â™€ïļ what's next?

As a junior, I am actively taking as many opportunities as I can to learn and grow my skills in various areas of technology. Things that are on my current to-do list:
